About the Institute of Club Directors
The Institute of Club Directors (ICD) supports people involved in the governance of licensed clubs across Australia.
Licensed clubs play an important role in their communities and operate as significant businesses. Effective governance is essential for clubs to succeed, and directors often take on this responsibility with limited opportunities to discuss challenges with experienced peers.
The Institute provides a place where directors can access practical information, share ideas, and strengthen their understanding of good governance.
The Institute is not a training organisation. Instead, it acts as a forum where members can access governance resources, stay informed about industry developments, and connect with others involved in club leadership.
Leadership and Experience
The Institute was established by experienced club governance advisers Geoff Wohlsen and Warren Tapp, who have worked with clubs across Australia for many years through Club Governance.
Through their consulting and advisory work, Geoff and Warren have assisted numerous club boards with governance reviews, board performance, strategic direction, and industry guidance. Their experience provides valuable insight for club directors seeking practical advice and support.
Members of the Institute also have the opportunity to seek guidance from Geoff and Warren on governance questions, board issues, or challenges facing their club.
Supporting Club Directors
The Institute of Club Directors supports professionals in navigating the challenges of modern club governance through education, practical resources, and ongoing industry support. Members gain access to valuable insights, networking opportunities, and expert-led learning designed specifically for club directors.
By bringing together experienced leaders from across the club industry, the Institute creates a collaborative environment where directors can share knowledge, improve decision-making, and stay informed about governance best practices and emerging trends.
Focused on strengthening clubs and the communities they serve, the Institute of Club Directors is committed to helping boards operate more effectively, build stronger leadership foundations, and create long-term success for their organisations.
